Mr. Ernest Harold Dickey, was born to the late Mr. Ernest Dickey and Mrs. Nancy Medley Dickey on February 17, 1947 in High Point, NC. On Friday, March 13, 2026, Harold departed his earthly life following a brief illness at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Harold matriculated the High Point City School System, having attended William Penn High School. He served his country as a dedicated US Army Soldier from 1972-1976. Over the span of his life, Harold was blessed to serve in various capacities in the workforce; such as the United Sates Postal Service in Maryland and Alderman Studios in High Point, NC. At the age of 55 he became a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and was privileged to serve his fellow servicemen in this capacity at the North Carolina Veterans Association (VA) Hospital in Salisbury, NC.
Harold’s passion for music, singing, writing and performing stemmed from a long family history of being raised in the church with his 5 siblings & singing cousins. To his credit Harold professionally recorded and released the R&B single, “She was Always Around” on Prescott Records in the 60’s. To know Harold was to know how infectious his personality was. Not only was he the life of the party, but he was the main attraction! Showcasing his gift of gab, comedic nature, and ability to captivate his audience with his incredible storytelling. His detail was so colorful it made it hard for you to know whether it was true or completely embellished. He never met a stranger, and he always left an indelible mark on those he encountered.
Harold was preceded in death by both of his parents, Mr. Ernest Dickey and Mrs. Nancy Medley Dickey; Two brothers, Jesse Medley & Donald R. Dickey; Two sisters, Diane D. Ingram & Glenda D. Ingram.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted and loving wife of the home, Mrs. Wanda Coleman Dickey; a sister, Patricia Dickey of High Point; Six children, Anthony (Janet) of Huntersville, NC, Monica (Morris) of Aurora, CO, Rodney (Tara) Dickey, Roslyn Dickey of High Point, NC., Christopher Dickey and a stepson, Kevin Callaham of Greensboro; a Brother in Love, Wayne Coleman. His legacy will continue with 17 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
