Jayden Matthew Vance, son of Stevie T. Vance, was born November 3, 2000, in Los Angeles, CA. He departed this life on June 12, 2024, in Thomasville, NC.
Before Jayden was born, his mom would sit and ponder what she should name him. So many crazy names were dropped and laughed about but when the name Jayden came up, she loved it and added Matthew to it. He is affectionately termed “Jay Matt” by his Aunt Sandy.
Jayden was loved by all who knew him. He was kind, gentle, generous, loving, caring and giving. He had the greatest sense of humor. He could look at you and create a story in his mind; and when he told you the story- all you could do is laugh.
Throughout school he played baseball and basketball. His love was basketball. One time his aunt took him to the local university to see the Globetrotters. They gave him a signed basketball;their autograph’s and he took pictures with them. He was on cloud 9. He was in ROTC, Boys Scouts and Boys Club of America. He received a couple of awards for his participation in these programs.
Jayden worked hard in his young life. He enjoyed working for Amazon and Walmart and the City of High Point. His favorite place to work was for High Point University. He worked in the catering department. He enjoyed putting together meals for events—delivering them and setting up for them.
His deepest joy was from his two sons, Kollin 4 and Kyier 2. He loved them so much. He had such high hopes for their futures. He used to say he can’t wait to see them grow up. He was a dreamer who loved life and all the joys and pitfalls of it.
Our hearts are broken but will mend, in time. His family loved him without measure. We were all there for him when he needed us. He touched all our lives in ways we cannot count. We can reflect on his life with positivity and know that he will live in our hearts forever.
We look forward to the time when we can see him again. John 5:28,29 says “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”. Jay believed in the resurrection to life. He knew it was possible to live again. He believed in the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We draw comfort in knowing that he believed this. Knowing that he is at peace, resting, not suffering anymore.
John 11:25 says “Jesus said to her: I am the resurrection and the life. The one exercising faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life;”.
Jayden is survived by his two sons: Kollin and Kyier Vance of Thomasville, NC; his loving mother Stevie T. Vance of High Point, NC; one brother: AidenNowlin; two sisters: Madison Vance and Kennedi Nowlin, of High Point, NC; his grandparents: Margo D. Stewart of High Point, NC and Steven E. Vance of Victorville, CA; a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, god-parent Alex, dear personal friend Athelstan A. Wright and other dear friends.
