Maurice Stevenson Winnix was born on February 9, 1960 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Jennie Hopper Winnix and the late Harvey George Winnix.
Maurice was educated in the Greensboro City School/Guilford County School System. In addition to taking courses at UNC Chapel Hill, NC State University, and other colleges in North Carolina, he received a diploma in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration from Piedmont Technical College. He was also the owner of Winnix Lawn Care Service.
On April 4, 2008, he married the love of his life Felicia Williams. She was his biggest supporter, standing steadfast by his side throughout their 13 years of marriage. Her love for him never wavered.
He joined Mount Zion Holy Church in Asheboro, NC under the leadership of Pastor Evelyn Holland. Maurice loved God and could always be heard quoting the Apostle Paul.
Maurice was an avid fan of the New England Patriots.
On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the heavenly Father called Maurice home. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey; sister, Barbara; and brothers: Gary and Charles.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Felicia; son, Marqui Massey of Greensboro, NC; his loving and supportive mother, Jennie of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Patricia, Denise, and Connie of Greensboro, NC; brothers, Harvey “Junebug” (Doris) and Walter of Greensboro, NC; stepson, Sir Calvin Johnson of Goldsboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Lydia Salters and Rebecca Jenkins of Hardeeville, SC; his loving nephews: Marc of Mebane, NC, Lamont (Sandra), Quentin, Charles Jr., and Manuel of Greensboro, NC, Devere of Jacksonville, NC; his loving nieces: Tina, Michelle, and Tiuana of Greensboro, NC, Kendra (Quincy) of Indianapolis, IN, Tiffanie and Taylor of Raleigh, NC, and Kenyatta and Korine of Hardeeville, SC; a god son: Jaden Willow Chambers of Greensboro, NC; a host of cousins, other family members, and friends; and his beloved dogs: Whodini and Shnooky.
