Rhonda Helena Laurent, 68, beloved mother and friend
to many, departed this earthly life on August 19, 2025.
Born September 15th, 1956 to Gloria and Ronald
Blackman in Brooklyn, NY, Rhonda spent her entire life
being a caring and helpful hand to society. Her passion
for traveling was ever present all throughout her life.
From taking her children to Bible Bowl competitions to
catching a cruise to an island, she was always ready to
take on a new adventure. Her love for people was evident
from high school and developed even more when she
arrived at Oakwood College where she found her sister-
friends who remain close to this day. After leaving
Oakwood, she found another set of sisters at NC A&T
State University where she secured her love for helping
people by becoming a registered nurse.
Rhonda is survived by her children - Nicole Laurent and
Elliot McWhite, brothers Greg & Kirk (Donna)
Blackman, her two grandsons - Theodore & Kingston
McWhite, and nieces/nephews - Simone, Donovan, and
Renee. She also leaves behind loving sisters and
roommates from Oakwood University, loving sisters of
NC A&T State University, and family friends of East
Market SDA, Baldwin Chapel SDA, and Ephesus SDA.
